Politicians want You to be a snitch-or go to jail
« Result #6 on Jun 4, 2005, 2:48pm »

Congress is about to expand the drug war - DON'T LET THEM DO IT !!!

New legislation currently making its way through the House of Representatives poses a grave threat. If passed, H.R. 1528 will force Americans to INFORM (snitch) on their family members, friends or neighbors within 24 hours of acquiring any knowledge about their involvement in drug related activity, including marijuana.

H.R. 1528 is supposedly designed to "protect children" from drugs -- but the bill is actually anti-family and its implications are far more sinister. Read on....

* If your adult brothers or sisters have children and mention to you that they and their spouses sometimes smoke marijuana in their bedroom after their kids are asleep, you would be required to immediately inform on them or face prison time.

* If a neighbor under 21 mentions buying some marijuana for a party, you would be required to report him or her to the government or risk jail time yourself.

* Observe one student passing a joint to another, and you could fall under this law. You would be required to report the incident to authorities within 24 hours or risk prosecution and a mandatory minimum sentence of two years in prison.

What a threatening new environment this proposed legislation would create for everyone! It would erect barriers of paranoia between family members, friends, and neighbors and is rife with potential for police abuse, extortion, and the creation of false informants.

DownsizeDC.org is mounting a campaign to defeat this bill. Visit http://action.downsizedc.org/wyc.php?cid=28 to learn more and then TAKE ACTION BY SENDING A MESSAGE TO CONGRESS telling them what you think of this bill. Please send a message now, while we can still stop this terrible legislation!

--------

This is scary stuff! My brother and I were talking about this bill yesterday. I checked out the link last night and sent the prepared message (along with a strong personal message) to our representatives.

A nation of snitches (either rewarded FOR or punished for NOT snitching) is a dangerous proposition and a far cry from what I want for myself or my children.

Any thoughts? For more discussion, you can go to our Mothers for Liberty yahoo group at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MothersForLiberty/

 Mothers for Liberty
« Result #7 on Apr 22, 2005, 9:58pm »

As a former homeschooling mom (my sons are both in college now), a former natural food store owner, a big fan of the late Karl Hess (a successful homesteading libertarian) and a lover of Liberty, I recently decided to start a new yahoo group where like minded moms (and dads) can discuss the ways and means of raising free thinking children. I call the group “Mothers for Liberty”, but our members are not all moms – they are women of all ages and a few men too! If this group sounds like something you might relate to and benefit from, we'd like to have you join our ranks and post your thoughts, experiences, questions and more. Visit us at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MothersForLiberty/

Hope to see you posting soon!

Jan

 A new home for us?
« Result #9 on Jan 30, 2005, 7:05pm »

While I have mentioned the other site I have been helping out with http://forums.homestead.org I also wanted to let you guys know that I have now set up a completely new site.

It can be ours...and I have invited others as well.

If you guys want to try it out...

www.homesteadingfamily.com/forum

I own this site and we don't have to deal with Google ads or less functionality. Plus it is the same format as the original Idaho Freedom Forum...a format that I happen to like.

Feel free to come visit there...and hopefully we can all begin to get back together again...like a great big Homesteading Family... ;D

Hello David,
Welcome to the forum!
Honestly, I know nothing about milk paint but I did find a link that might be useful: http://www.realmilkpaint.com/index.html. Under the frequently asked questions, it says that if the milk paint is to be used in high moisture or high traffic areas, that a finish should be used over top.
I hope this helps, if not, maybe there's someone else who knows more about it.
